The Road to Recovery Leadership Playbook

In this playbook, we’ll look at the current challenges in getting work re-started on sites, where to find pipeline, the role of buyer behaviour and putting an end to suicide bidding, how to transform productivity to make up for lost time, and how leaders can actually facilitate positive change. Using excerpts from our recent ‘Road to Recovery Leadership Panel’ on the task ahead for the construction industry, alongside third-party research, the aim of this playbook is to give you the best strategy for not only coming out of this crisis, but for dealing with any future crisis.

I am a senior construction solicitor and recognised legal specialist in BIM and related technologies. I have advised contractors, consultants and insurers in these areas.

I am often able to achieve the best results between Legal and Commercial/Technical departments because unusually for a lawyer, I have an understanding and interest in the tech side, as well as the legal. I have worked, and am working, with senior management and Heads of Innovation to implement and improve innovative processes, construction technology and related documentation.

I have authored and co-authored leading papers regarding legal and contractual issues. I have spoken worldwide regarding BIM and other construction technologies and written various articles on these topics, including on drones, 3D printing and Blockchain. I am leading the sub-team drafting the legal section of the ISO19650 Guidance Framework (released March 2019; further release due in summer 2019), as well as leading a working group in the preparation of a BIM Guidance Note for one of the industry standard form contracts (due for release in May 2019). Most recently I contributed to the BIM-related contents of Chapter 3 of the upcoming edition of the leading text, Hudson's Building and Engineering Contracts.
