Per-User Installer for Non-virtual, physical machines, using Windows 10 or 11 (not suitable for VDI Systems)
Who this installer is for: This method is best for companies who want updates applied automatically i.e. install and forget.
Who this installer is not for: Companies where many people use the same machine (like terminal servers) or need to control which version of Ideagen Mail Manager their users have. Where AppLocker, Software Restriction Policies or other whitelisting software is used to block executable files from running in %appdata% and %localappdata% locations.
What to consider:
- Using msi for deployment – users will see Mail Manger update next time they log in to Windows - No need for your IT Team to deploy future updates - Deploy once for all users using the same machine - When a new user logs on to the machine Ideagen Mail Manager for Windows will be downloaded and installed automatically - Every user has their own installation of Ideagen Mail Manager for Windows - Ideagen Mail Manager for Windows will be installed to %LocalAppdata%\Mail Manager - New versions are downloaded (approx 80MB) and installed for each user automatically - Uninstalling Ideagen Mail Manager won’t affect other users using the same machine as Ideagen Mail Manager is installed into a user’s profile - Licence details will be required to pre-configure the installer. VDI system e.g. Citrix, Remote desktop
Per Machine Installer for Virtual machines using a VDI System. E.g. Citrix, Remote Desktop (required for VDI Systems)
Who this installer is for: This method is best suited to companies where multiple employees use the same machine, e.g. terminal servers, where there may be a need to control which version of Ideagen Mail Manager is used.
Who this installer is not for: Companies where people use their own dedicated machines or want the automatic updates feature for Ideagen Mail Manager for Windows.
What to consider:
- Single installation on a machine means having the benefit of a smaller hard drive footprint - The IT team need to be aware when new versions become available and take action - IT Team need to be aware when newer versions of Ideagen Mail Manager become available and update accordingly - Licence details will be required to pre-configure the installer.
